The SBA HUBZone Program mission to promote job growth, capital investment, and economic development to Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZone) by providing contracting assistance to small businesses located in these economically distressed communities. The SBA's 8(a) Business Development Program, named for a section of the Small Business Act, is a business development program created to help small disadvantaged businesses compete in the American economy and access the federal procurement market. For both programs, we will cover the eligibility criteria, the specific benefits of each program, what is required of firms holding the certification, and provide an overview of the application process for each program.
